Lacrosse is a winter sport and the regular season runs from late April/early May to early September each year. Finals are played in September.
All Modcrosse games are on Saturday mornings.
The Boys and Men’s competitions play on Saturday’s, and the Girl’s and Women’s competitions play on Sundays.
Team fixtures are available from Lacrosse WA.
All players are expected to arrive at the grounds at least 45 minutes before the scheduled game time to allow enough time to warm up. If you cannot make it, give your coach/team manager as much notice as possible.
Spectators are encouraged to come down and cheer for their children, grandchildren, cousins and siblings.
Our club values good sportsmanship, and expects all players and spectators to display appropriate behaviour, positive encouragement toward all teams and players and, in particular, refrain from approaching referees and the referee area.
As a winter sport, lacrosse is often played in cold, wet weather so it is important to bring along warm clothing.
Consider bringing a weatherproof bag to keep belongings dry.
Occasionally, game officials will cancel a game when conditions are considered dangerous, however please attend your game as scheduled unless you are notified by your coach/team manager.
There are opportunities to trial & play at the Regional, State and National level, and as a niche sport in Australia, that possibility of selection is greater than in more popular sports.
Lacrosse Australia holds the following tournaments each year.
– U15 Regional National Tournament held annually in October
– Lacrosse WA Under 18 State teams compete at National Championships at Easter each year.
– Lacrosse WA Senior State teams compete at Senior National Championship each June.
Players from Wanneroo-Joondalup are also consistently selected for the National team to play at the international level, as well as play at the collegiate level in the US.
Within the club, juniors may be asked to play in an older age group. This is a great opportunity to broaden their lacrosse skills. They will only be asked to do so if coaches think they are ready and you are happy for them to do so.
Our club is fuelled by volunteers! Players and family members are encouraged to volunteer for a role within the club.
Get in touch to discuss roles suitable for you.
We love to spread the word about lacrosse and run clinics in schools throughout the year! If your school is interested in having experienced players and coaches come and visit to teach the students lacrosse, please let us know or pass our details on to the relevant teacher.

Men’s Lacrosse is no more dangerous than other contact sports such as Football and Rugby and players wear protective equipment including Helmets and Gloves.
In a study published on the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website titled, “College Sports–Related Injuries — United States, 2009–10 Through 2013–14 Academic Years.”, Lacrosse ranked behind Wrestling, Gymnastics, American Football Basketball, Soccer and Field Hockey.
Women’s lacrosse is a non-contact sport and with the absence of protective gear, a number of additional rules are in place to ensure the safety of players, including dangerous checking, defensive and shooting fouls.
