Lacrosse is a great way to build cardiovascular endurance, coordination, agility, and strength. Kids who are tired out from running around sleep better, and those who have slept well have more energy to run around, be creative, and solve problems. But lacrosse does not just give your child a whole body workout, it also exercises the mind and helps build strategic thinking and decision-making.
As boys progress through grades, they will require additional protective equipment as the rules for contact change (to be more in line with the men’s rules). Like women’s grades, girls lacrosse is always non-contact, however mouthguards and eye protection is required.
WJLC has been running junior lacrosse for school-aged children for years, with many of our Junior players starting with Modcrosse before progressing to our Senior program.
We support each player to learn at their own pace, encouraging fun and sportsmanship while developing fundamental skills of catching, throwing and ground balls as well as general fitness.
We are an inclusive club and welcome players of any gender and any ability.
As a winter sport, the Lacrosse season runs from April to September.
We play on Saturday mornings (boys competition) and Sunday morning (girls competition) at our home ground, Penistone Reserve, and throughout Perth.
We train Tuesdays and Thursdays at Penistone Reserve in Greenwood.
Under 11s and Under 13s train 4:30 to 5:30.
All other junior teams train 5:30 to 6:30.
Wanneroo-Joondalup Lacrosse Club has teams across a number of competitions and age groups.
